On Farm Water Management

  • During the last decades, new irrigation systems have been constructed and old systems have been modernized or rehabilitated. Systems manageability and sustainability under present and future conditions are the main pillars to gain the optimum benefit from a farm. Integrated management requires a flexible and positive response to social-traditional and institutional settings together with the technical aspects.
  • This course focuses on the on-job training and hands on experiences to ensure the combination between theoretical education and real life practices and experience.

    • Crop water requirements
    • Water distribution and control systems
    • Efficiency of various irrigation/drainage techniques
    • Operation and maintenance
    • Social, environmental and economic issues
    • Performance evaluation of the system
    • Case studies and field visits

  • This 6-weeks course is directed to professional actively working in the field of land and water development with at least 3 years of experience in the relevant field.
